Turning great ideas into positive health impact
About us
Health Innovation East is part of a national network established by the NHS to connect all partners in the health sector. Our purpose is to help turn great ideas into positive health impact. We believe that great health is improved by great ideas, but great ideas only make an impact when they are put into practice. Our health is too important to leave change to chance. Citizens, academia, health services and industry will achieve more working together than they will in isolation. Our job is to make that happen. The Eastern region is home to some of the greatest science and the most brilliant health and care practitioners in the world. We want our region to benefit from both, creating better outcomes and more prosperity. We are ambitious for patients and committed to applying evidence to make change happen.

#returnoninvestment is quite possibly one of the most powerful and emotive terms within #innovation and #digitalhealth. We’re constantly required to demonstrate (and prove) ROI, and as a result, it can often seem daunting, a hurdle, and plainly unreachable. A common misconception is that ROI is something you need to painstakingly plan (and conduct) “separate” to business as usual, resulting in inertia as you direct time away from BAU. In reality though, it’s quite the opposite. ROI can and SHOULD be built into your day-to-day, with key outcomes chosen to reflect ROI and value to customers. It’s not about re-inventing the wheel, creating a fancy and elaborate depiction of value (the bridge in the foreground) which is academically profound, but does not resonate with customers. It’s about making the best use of what you already have, knowing where to start, and building intelligently and pragmatically (bridge in the background). ROI, when done properly will make you stand out against competitors, highlight your unique value add, and demonstrate WHY increasingly limited funds should be sent your way. While the overly complicated or abstract approach CAN work, in reality it's often best to keep it simple, build the bridge and get over to ROI as quickly (and easily) as possible.
